I went to the international grand finale for Campus Moviefest yesterday and even though my film didn’t win, I would have been pissed if it did because the movies that did win are phenomenal. My friend Ien won best director & best picture for his film: Tick Tock which I posted a while back.
Just in case you’re not familiar, Campus Moviefest is a nationwide event at colleges where students are given a camcorder & laptop and have one week to make a 5-minute short film.
Here’s my top 5 favorite films that I saw new this weekend, each one of these is definitely worth a watch:
My Ketchup Smiles [Best Drama]:
I Or Me:
Couples Therapy [Best Comedy]:
Funmachine [Best Soundtrack & Rethink Possible Award]:
Sugarbaby:
Recycle to reinvent; the motto of Bota Bota, the project where a 57-year-old ferryboat was transformed into a floating Scandinavian spa by Sid Lee Architects, right in the heart of Montreal’s Old Port. Bota Bota is the new name given to the ferryboat that used to link two cities in Quebec in the 1950s, built in 1951 and measuring 170 feet and 600 tons, the Arthur Cardin plied the waters between these two cities for ten years.

This On-Time Wall clock from Italian clock maker Diamantini & Domeniconi can perpetually give you 3 extra minutes throughout your day. Granting the wish of anyone who’s ever wanted “just a few more minutes!” to get something done. Innovation poke the minute hand bent “three minutes away,” making it point 3 minutes ahead. Cool. It’s available from Rakuten for about $100 (¥7,875).

Start the day off on the right note
Nothing says morning like a piece of toast jumping in a toaster. With that in mind, Day Maker, a bedside phone charger/alarm hub, lets you know it’s time to rise and shine with a little added spring from your phone alarm. And if you’re not quite ready to face the day, snooze on effortlessly by pushing your little slice of digital heaven back into its tray.
Brilliant.
